Bill Polk comments:

"The connection of Edith to Thomas Polk, Jr., seems fairly reasonable, considering his birth date and her birth date. What seems out of whack is the birth in Brunswick County, Virginia. I have no information for Thomas Polk/Mary Wilson that shows a daughter named Edith. That does not mean she was not a daughter. There is a lot of unknown information about Thomas Polk, Jr./Mary Wilson. What I cannot reconcile is the Virginia connection. Everything I have found indicates that Thomas Polk, Jr./Mary Wilson was in SC., by the 1750s (with his supposed father Thomas, b. c1703). So, it seems strange to have a daughter b. in Virginia in 1767, when the family was already in South Carolina before that year. However, one might speculate that the Thomas Polk, Jr. family may have come through Virginia on their way to SC., and the family appeared in SC. later than what I think. This information about Virginia may be a very important piece of the Thomas Polk connection back to Pennsylvania and Maryland."
