About Edward Masterson, Sr.

Edward Masterson was born abt 1706 and married Mary in Virginia. They had nine children: Edward, Sarah, Mary, Elizabeth, Richard, William, Robert, and Thomas. The earliest record for Edward Masterson is his purchase of 150 acres of land in Essex County, Virginia on November 19, 1728. He sold the same land in 1735, but called himself of the county of Caroline. He was a millwright and grinder of grains by trade and he leased 300 acres of land on Four Mile Run in Fairfax County Virginia in 1745. The mill was located where Doctor's Creek merged with Four Mile Run, but the creek is now filled in. On Sept 25, 1751, he petitioned the Fairfax County court for permission to build a grist mill on Difficult Run. He wrote his will July 25, 1754, and called himself a millwright. It was presented to the court September 18, 1754 by his wife Mary and son Edward. In it he names his nine children.
