NEWPORT NEWS — Edwin Phillips Hazen died May 1, 2002, at James River Convalescent Center.
A native of Knoxville, Tenn., he was a resident of Newport News for 50 years. He retired from Sanitary Engr. Co.
He was a communicant of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, a former vestryman and treasurer.
Mr. Hazen was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Hampton Roads Assembly, Hampton Roads German Club, Hampton Yacht Club and the James River Country Club.
He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific Theater, and was a retired Lt. Col. USAR.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Buchanan Hazen; nephew, Thomas McMahon Tucker of Knoxville, Tenn.; niece, Louisa Tucker Parsons of Signal Mt., Tenn.; three great-nieces and a great- nephew; and also several cousins locally.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church by The Reverend Howard W. Saunders and The Reverend Richard H. Holley. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to a favorite charity or the American Parkinson's Disease Assn., 1250 Hyland Blvd., Suite B-4, States Island, NY 10305.
