"The year of Eleazer Lyon's (1729-1816) is unknown, but from 1772 he operated businesses in Harrisburg, Lancaster, and Philadelphia. In 1776 he married Hannah Levy, also a Hollander. In the 1780s he moved his operations to Baltimore and then in the 1790s he was in the Dutch colony of Surinam. He died in Philadelphia in 1816."
From the Baltimore chapter: "One Holland native, the merchant Eleazer Lyons (1729-1816) was aomng the early arrivals, coming in 1779 from Lancaster. He remained in Baltimore until at least 1786. By 1790 he had migrated to Surinam, but later returned to the United States and resided in Philadelphia until his death. Lyons's sojurn to Surinam was part of the long-standing commercial ties between the port of Baltimore and the Carribean Islands."
