About Eliza Jeannette Evans
December 1, 1934, Mrs. Eliza Jeannette Evans Berry, 67, widow of Alonzo Ragsland Berry and an active Red Cross worker of recent years, died Friday, at 2 a.m., at the home of her brother, J.T. Evans, 601 Ninth East street, of a throat ailment. She was born January 14, 1867, at Centerville. (Note: Has to be 1868 - see birth dates for siblings Sarah Josephine and Salisbury Monroe Evans), a daughter of Jonathan Benner and Josephine Smith Evans, both early Utah pioneers. Mrs. Berry had been a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and during recent years had devoted much of her time to Red Cross work. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Josephine Adeline Berry Ferrell; seven brothers, William Benner Evans, Centerville; Monroe S. Evans, Seattle; John Taylor Evans, Seth Bartlett Evans. and Frederick Williamson Evans, Salt Lake City; Dr. Ralph Thompson Evans, Los Angeles, and George Emery Evans, Centerville, and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Josephine Burton. Temple City, California, and Miss May Evans, Centerville. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1 p.m. in the L.D.S. First ward chapel by Bishop Wesley E. Tingey. Burial will take place in the Centerville cemetery.
