About Elizabeth Lawton

Date and place of birth have also been (erroneously?) reported to be:

  • 1620 in Bedfordshire (now Bedford), England
  • circa 1628 in England
  • 1636 at Portsmouth, Newport County, Rhode Island Elizabeth is listed as the 2nd child of Thomas Hazard and 1st wife Martha ____, her brother Robert is listed as 1st child b 1635? However, Elizabeth's 1st child was born c1642 which if she was b c1624 would make her age 18- I am confused about the timing here as she is listed being born in 1624 in Portsmouth, RI which was not settled until 1638? I think her year of birth prob. was c1624 but probably in England ?? And she most likely would have married George Lawton c1641 at age 17 or thereabouts...
