Biography

Parents

Elizabeth was not the daughter of Henry and Anne (Winthrop) Hoskins/Hodgins/Hodgekins. Anne wrote a letter to the John Winthrop in 1637, saying her husband was dead, asking after her son William and saying that she and her daughter were the only ones alive there (Ireland). This is pretty clear that her daughter was still in Ireland.[1] Considering that William Palmer and Elizabeth Hodgekins were married in 1634 in Plymouth. She is not the sister of William or the daughter mentioned by Ann Hoskins.[2]

Birth

Her parents and birthplace are unknown, so of necessity her birth must be estimated. She married 1st in 1634 to a man bpt in 1610. She was still having children during the 1650s. So born in the vicinity of 1600-1618. She was not born in Duxbury, Massachusetts, which did not exist. She was not necessarily born in Ireland, since she was not the daughter of Henry and Ann. Her husband came from London, but they were married here, so no indication of a birth in London. She probably came from England, as so many of the immigrants of the time did.

Marriage

First: William Palmer Jr. & Elizabeth Hodgekins were married 27 March [1634] in Plymouth, Massachusetts.[3] [4][5] William died by 25 Aug 1636, the date of his inventory.[6]

The only child of William and Elizabeth (Hodgkins) Palmer was:

Rebecca Palmer, born 1635/6.[7] A second child William is sometimes listed but William was a child of his father William, born after both Williams had died.
She married second John Willis. At a General Court on 2 Jan. 1637/8[citation needed] John Willis and his wife Elizabeth sued the executors of the estate of William Palmer, Sr., for damages for a lot of land which the complainants contended he “had a right to by the marriage of his wife, who had formerly been the wife of William Palmer, the younger, son of William the elder” but the jury found for the defendants.[8] Children[citation needed]

Elizabeth sued the executors of the will of William (1) Palmer because she had been the wife of William (2) for a share in the former's estate. [9][10]

Death:

Some say 1681.[citation needed]

Certainly before 15 4th month (June) 1692, date of John Willis' will. She is not mentioned implying her earlier demise.[11]
