About Ericus Gerhardus Duijvis

In 1880, Ericus Gerhardus, takes over the firm grounded by his grandfather Teewis, and later managed by his father, also called Teewis.

The firm stilll mainly produces cattle-fodder, with linseed oil as a by-product, but now with a steam oil mill built by Ericus. As of 1908 the company begins to sell and export linseed oil.

Between 1920 - 1930 the company becomes one of the largest oil exporting companies of Holland. During the crisis years turnover declines and the company starts producing sald oil for consumers. During world war 2 the import of necessary raw materials for the oli priduction declines. The company switches to other vegetable oils. Still focusing on consumers the company starts selling branded products. In 1975 Mayolande, a french daughter is founded, selling products under the Bénénuts brand.

In 1958 the company recieves the status of "Royal" and in 1961 the company sells bagged peanuts and other nuts. That same year the company is taken over by Akzo, which means the end of a 150 year old family business. The takeover means that the company looses it´s "Royal" status. In 1987 Duyvis is taken over by Douwe Egberts. A new factory is built in Zaandam and Duyvis becomes the largest peanut and nut brand in the Netherlands. In 2006 Douwe Egberts (part of Sara Lee) sells Duyvis to soft drink and snack manufacturer Pepsico. Pepsico is amongst others the owner of brands Pepsi, Lay´s and Quaker. In 2006 Duyvis celebrated it´s 200th anniversary.
