About Feri Hoffmann
From: "Frank Hoffmann" <hoffmann01@vodafone.co.nz> Subject: Re: Hello from California Date: January 22, 2017 at 1:01:51 AM PST To: "E. Randol Schoenberg" <randols@bslaw.net> Reply-To: "Frank Hoffmann" <hoffmann01@vodafone.co.nz>
Dear Randy, Not much that I remember about mother’s family although I did spend some of my early holidays with them and my aunts in Kezmarok, Slovakia. My grandfather with the name of Gursky was working in the forest service, but already retired when I knew him.He kept much to himself. Four of my single aunts shared the household during the holidays which is all I was aware of at age 6- 7 years at the time and lacking curiosity. Now to the present: Our oldest daughter, Katharine is now a senior teacher, and relieving in several schools. Therese, now 64, is principal of an Auckland intermediate school and loves it.Veronica is teaching English to Asian immigrants in New South Wales. Not very exciting but they are happy in their work, So is Gabrielle in her job of selling apartments in Auckland’s waterfront. That’s about it. Ceciy has chosen to care for her old father on her small property in West Papakura which will be hers after my death. I am so lucky and most grateful to her for keeping me out of retirement institutions. There is enough money for both of our needs. When the time comes to knock on our door you may be asked respectfully to contribute. Given my circumstances you would understand. I have worked hard all my productive life, even built our home in my spare time when not tending to my cattle’s needs. But farming the way I liked produced an income to sustain us but not enough for retirement. I have paid tax all my productive life, so don’t need to be ashamed to accept some benefits from the state. The future looks OK for us, not least for Hans having organised the family to each provide a regular contribution for my maintenance. There is also a nest egg for emergency.
Please tell your family that New Zealand will be ready to welcome them, no need to wait for Trump. All my love to you all, I did enjoy reading about them because tomorrow i am due to be admitted at a retirement home, to give Cecily a two week reprieve.
With all my love, and every good wish,
Feri
