 Hemstrastins, Hiemstra state, Scheltema Stins

History In 1543 the parish priest of Morra complained that if the mendicant monks visited the village, he had to invite these and daerby which heerscaepen showing all the nasty municipality, which then made a good impression. Morra is one of the villages where a clear distinction was made between the houses of the "lords" and others. So Ansck Heemstra did in 1491 in the rectory of Morra a large donation, which they take into account that "three other wealthy homes" (dae correlative trya Ryka husen) also would pay such a sum to the church. Both by the equally large amounts Hemstra Staete, Bottema Staete, Old (h) Ustra Staete and Nyttema Staete annually paid to the parsonage, and by the size of their land in 1511, the location of the land around the village mound and the moat of the houses is clear that the four "wealthy houses" were the "lords" of Morra. (* 1)

The Heemstra's kept in within the family common surname Feye the memory of their descent from Mr. Feye van Dokkum, in 1398 one of the main allies of Count Albrecht of Bavaria. (* 2) Whether Mr. Feye already estate owned Morra is unknown. In a next generation Abbe Heemstra was one of the main Vetkoperse men that the Great Union of 1422 it sealed. (* 3) in 1449 was at peace with Groningen also Sippe Hemstra present. He belonged to the Schieringers and was put in prison in 1474 on Jancko Douwema-stins to Langweer. He was a son of Syds Tjaerda in Rinsumageest and derived its name Heemstra Ansck Heemstra to his wife, with whom he lived in Morra. In 1491 Ansck Heemstra made her will. She did enclosing the aforementioned donations to the rectory and made her sons Feye, Reenck and Syds to heirs. Sijds son did not join the Groningen and had to pay for this with their lives. His brother Renick is also referred to Morra.

In 1511 was Heemstra gued to Morra owned Anscks grandson Sippe Sydsz. Heemstra; other Heemstra's under Morra still had three other goods. Sippe supported the Burgundians and had to go into exile, for which he received a distribution from the Rentmeesterskas (1518). His widow married Frans van Scheltema. This put the house in the family, to whom it in 1800 as the stins Scheltema with gate was designated. From this marriage were famous offspring strains that are buried in the church. After the death of her first husband remarried Rixt Andreae in 1708 to Wolvega with Willem van Haren, Grietman Weststellingwerf, for whom weapons in the church hung. In 1728 William is the name of his wife registered as the owner and he as a user of Heemstra State.

In 1785 to rent the house was offered by Hendrik Casimir Plettenberg, presumably a son of Johan and inhabited in 1787 by the chief Sluijterman. In 1800, the house offered for sale and a year later sold on dismantling the Stins Scheltema with port under Morra. In 1832, his state the grounds and in the former state falling 12.5 hectares of land owned by Folkert Cornelis Botma. It is not likely that there has built a farm, he was viz.
