Francis Allen

the latest genealogical research (Anderson's "Great Migration") finds no evidence that Francis was the son of George Allen, of Sandwich whose wife Katherine wasn't Katherine Stark.

Francis Allen, [believed to be a son of George Allen and his first wife SIC], was born in England.

In 1643, his name appears on the list of men from Sandwich, between the ages of sixteen and sixty, who were able to bear arms in the New Plymouth Colony of Massachusetts. Francis was later married at Sandwich in the New Plymouth Colony of Massachusetts (now within Barnstable County, Massachusetts) on 20 July 1662 to a woman named Mary Besse. Mary was the daughter of Anthony and Jane Besse.

After Mary's father, Anthony, passed away, Mary's mother married for a second time to the Sheriff of Sandwich, George Barlow.

Francis later died at Sandwich in 1698. His will, which had been written on the 18th day, 12th month, 1695 (18 February 1695/96), was probated before the Barnstable County Court on 19 March 1697/98.

Francis Allen was married to Mary Besse, daughter of Anthony Besse and Jane ? (some say Annable, but not proven). When Anthony Besse died his wife married George Barlow. Mary was born to the first marriage. There are court records showing that George was her step father.
