Leading Aircraftman Royal Air Force Volunteer Force Service Number 1120955 Died in a plane accident on Blackburn Botha 1 aircraft W5154 (had a bad reputation - underpowered, poor stability and bad visibility). Aircraft was taken our of active service in 1940 and used for trianing until 1944. Almost 1/3 rd of planes crashed. While on a training sortie from RAF Tranwell, the Botha registered W5154 collided with another RAF Botha registered W5137 and carrying a crew of five. The collision occurred in unknown circumstances, both aircraft crashed in a field near the airbase and all nine crew members were killed.
