About Frank Samuel
Frank Samuel was born in 1859 and died in 1934.
A manufacturer and pioneer iron exporter, he was educated at a private school in Philadelphia. He spent one year in New York studying the banking business.
He returned to Philadelphia to work for a prominent glass manufacturer who later made Frank the Vice-President of the Malaga and Milville Glass company in New Jersey.
In 1888 Frank resigned to accept the Vice-Presidency of the North Branch Steel Company, which was the first to produce the modern street-car rail, making a revolution in this field.
In 1894 Frank resigned and entered commerce to become a general iron merchant, and one of the first to export iron and steel to all parts of the world.
He was a member of various social clubs and associations, was both an athlete and sportsman.
Frank was married on December 7th 1887 to Mary Buchanan, daughter of Colonel A. Louden and Elizabeth R. Snowden of Philadelphia.
Frank and Mary had two children: Elizabeth born 1889 and married to George Poulyeff Rebecca, born 1890 in Philadelphia. She married on 11thApril 1912 to Francis Robinson.
