About Fredrick Nichols
Nellie 1st wed Frederick Nichols in 1887. Widowed in 1902, Nellie 2nd wed widower John Tillotson in 1908.
Nellie's 1st husband Fred was killed in a collapse at Richard Mine and his body was never recovered. Below is text, likely the Dover Advance, publication date not known.
Fred Nichols, a miner, was caught by a fall of ground in the Richard Mine on Tuesday. Nichols and two companions were working a drift on contract and after filling the car the two other miners pushed the car up the slope. They had not gone far before they heard the fall and started back for Nichols, but as the fall continued they were forced to get out of the drift. The ground continued to fall all night and it is estimated that about 5,000 tons of earth cover the unfortunate miner. A large force of men are digging for the body. Nichols leaves a wife and six children, the youngest but four months old and the eldest 13 years. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/178213089/ellen-f-tillotson
