She was also known as Geertruy Van Pelt. She was also known as Geertrude Aersted Laenen Van Pelt.

THE SUTPHEN FAMILY

No. 5.-Guisbert Sutphen, [Dirck], of near Freehold, Monmouth Co., N. J., b. Oct. 16, 1693; died Aug. 18, 1763. He m. about 1715, GEERTRUY VAN PELT, sister of Grietje Van Pelt (supra), who was b. Apr. 10, 1693, and d. March 24, 1748. 1

1 Their father, Aert, was a son of Teunis Jansen Laenen Van Pelt, brother of Matthys Laenen, progenitor of the Lane family.

Guisbert Sutphen and all of his sons were farmers. No records of his land holdings, etc., have thus far been found.

• 2. AERT, bap. at Marlborough, N. J., Apr. 13, 1718. (He follows under No. 21.)
• 3. GUISBERT, b. in Monmouth Co., Aug. 28, 1720. (He follows under No. 22.)
• 4. ELIZABETH, b. Feb. 18, bap. Mar. 17, 1723. The baptismal record gives her name as "Margaret", but there is every indication that she was the Elizabeth, who married Matthias Lane. (See: "Lane Family".)
• 5. PETER, bap. at Marlborough, N. J., Nov. 14, 1725. (supp. date) (He follows under No. 23.)
• 6. NEELTJE, bap. May 24, 1730.
• 7. JOHN, b. 1732. (He follows under No. 24.)
• 8. JACOBUS, (James), b. 1735. (He follows under No. 25.)
• 9. MARY, bap. at Marlborough, June 5, 1737. She m. Cryn Janse Van Mater, in June 1752. He was b. Sept. 28, 1718, and d. 1756.1

There may have been another child, b. about 1727.
