About Geoffrey II de Saye, 1st Lord of West Greenwich, Magna Carta Surety

Geoffrey (II) de Say (1135–1214) was an English nobleman, Lord of West Greenwich, and Magna Carta surety.

He held land at Edmonton and Sawbridgeworth. He had family claims to larger estates, but they had gone to the kinsman Geoffrey Fitz Peter, 1st Earl of Essex.

Geoffrey was the son of William de Saye II and Beatrice de Mandeville. He married (1) Alice de Chesney and (2) Alice de Vere. He had a son named Geoffrey with each of his wives, and an older son named William with his first wife. His son Geoffrey (III) (1155-1230) by his first marriage inherited the honour of West Greenwich and was a Magna Carta Surety.
