Biographical Summary
George Cook, born 11th June 1812, son of George C, D.D., min. of Laurencekirk, afterwards Professor of Moral Philosophy, Univ. of St Andrews, educated at Laurencekirk and Univ. of St Andrews ; MA. ; licen. by Presb. of St Andrews in 1836 ; assistant at Kemback, 1836-8 ; ord. chaplain at Bombay in 1841 ; adm. min. of Bathgate 9th Nov. 1861 ; trans, and adm. 16th May 1867 ; D.D. (St Andrews 1872); Moderator of Assembly in 1876; died 29th Feb. 1888. He was the last survivor of a worthy family of brothers, and served the Church long and well, both abroad and at home. He marr. 16th June 1842, Jane Halkett (died 12th Nov. 1886), daugh. of Colonel Robert Pattullo of Balhouffie, Fife, and had issue —
