So is Gert Andries Jacobus Alberts, die Dorslandtrekker, se doop op 17/5/1836 in die Nederduits Gereformeerde Kerkrekords op Cradock opgeteken; sy tweede huwelik met Petronella Francina le Grange op 14/12/1879 opgeteken in die trouboek van die Reisende Gereformeerde Gemeente in die Kaokoveld in S.w.A. en is hy begrawe uit die Hervormde Kerk te Palanca in Angola waar hy op 21/4/1925 oorlede is.

Gert Andries Jacobus Alberts (Grootpa Gert) Commandant and Leader of the First Dorsland Trek (*03.01.1836 Swellendam) (≈17.05.1836 Cradock) He left his farm in the Pretoria district in 1874 and arrived at Rietfontein on Jan. 1876 where his laer remained for two years until other groups of trekkers joined him and he decided to continue the trek northwards. Gert Alberts was a member of the ‘Gereformeerde Kerk’ and served as a ‘kerkraadslid’ (†29.03.1927 Humpata, Angola).
