About Isabel López de Gracia

In The Origins of New Mexico Families, Father Angélico Chávez states that Andrés López de Gracia was a resident of the Isleta jurisdiction in 1638, as well as the brother of Sebastiana López de Gracia. Sebastiana was the wife of Diego González de Apodaca. The Diligencia Matrimonial found on page 1571 of Chávez's New Mexico Roots, Ltd. was dated 5 Aug 1729, and confirms that Andrés and Sebastiana had two sisters, Ysabel López de Gracia and Lucía López de Gracia. Isabel was married to Pedro Rico de Rojas and Lucia's husband was José Nieto.

Isabel and her husband Pedro Cedillo Rico, who was a captain in the military and they lived in the Rio Abajo in 1680. They survived the Pueblo Revolt and were listed in Guadalupe in 1681. Their children returned to New Mexico in 1693. Isabel had died before 1692 but Pedro was alive until at least 1889.
