About James William Quiggle
"...Hon. James W. [Quiggle], who was born at Wayne, Clinton county, Pennsylvania, January 20, 1820. He studied law at Jersey Shore and was admitted to the bar in 1841. He was state senator in 1852 and later United States consul at Antwerp; deputy attorney-general for Clinton county and prosecuting attorney. He died November 28, 1878....
"The family name was changed from Qwickel to Quiggle in 1852 by an act of assembly introduced by Hon. James W. Quiggle, then state senator."
