In the name of god Amen: The two and twentith day of August in the nynetenth yeare of the raigne of o’r sovraigne Lady Queene Elizabeth And in the yeare of our Lorde god one thousand fyve hundredth seaventy seaven, I Jane Coles of Preston in the county of Northampton widowe late wief of Richard Coles of Preston aforesaid gentleman deseassed Doe now make and ordaine my last will and testament in manner and forme following ffirste I bequeath my soule into the hands of allmightie god my maker and redemer beseching him not to impute to me the multitude of my synnes And my bodye to be buried in the church of Preston aforesaid in suche sorte as shall seeme mete and convenient to my executors. Item I give and bequeath to twentie such poore maidens as shalbe next married in Preston aforesaid after my decease twentie nobles that is to any of them sixe shillings eightpence to be payd to them uppon the daie of thiere marriage. Item I give and bequeath to my sonne in lawe Ambrose the some of Twentie pounds which I lent to him. Item I give to Amy Willes my daughter now wief of the said Ambrose the some of six poundes thirtene shillinges four pence to be paid to her within three monethes next after my decease. Item I give and bequeath the residue of all my goods and cattells (my debts and funalls paid) to my sonnes in lawe Edward Edwardes and William Triste to the intent they shall imploye and bestowe the same as well as the good educacon of such children as they now have or shall have by theire now wives Ursula and Agnes being daughters of me the said Jane as also for the preferment in living hereafter of such children. Item I give and bequeath all my landes tenements and hereditaments wthin the realme of England to my said sonnes in lawe Edward Edwardes and William Trist and to Ursula and Agnes now theire wives and to the heires of the said Ursula Edwardes and Agnes Trist for ever. Item I will that all such legacyes as are due to me by virtue of the last will and testament of my sonne Peter Coles shalbe paid to my executors I will that the moitie of all such debts as are due to me and to my daughter in lawe Elizabeth Coles by force of the last will of my sonne Peter Coles shalbe paid also to my executors And of this my last will and testament I make and ordaine the said Edward Edwardes and William Trist my executors And I ordaine and make overseers of the same my loving friend William Baldwyn of Byfeld in the countie of Northampton gent and my sonne in lawe Ambrose Willes And in recompense of theire paines I give unto ether of them fortie shillings a pece And all former willes I utterly revoke and make frustrate. Item I give to Thomas Bugby one rope and to his wief a peticoate and a smocke And I give to my neighbor William fflanisted one french sword And for any of my servants six shillings eight pence And to any of my godchildren sixtene pence: William Baldwyn William fflanisted Thomas Watkyn. Item I will that my executors shall bestowe at my buriall eight poundes.
