About Jane Meriwether
Jane Lewis was the daughter of Robert Lewis (of "Belvoir") and Jane Meriwether.
ohn Lewis of the Byrd obtained permission from the Virginia House of Burgesses to dispose of his property, the Byrd plantation and reinvest the money in land on Dan River in Pittsylvania County and Halifax County [Virginia]. His home was in Pittsylvania County. The date of the removal is not known, but it was before the Revolutionary War. He was born October 8, 1720, died 1791, married his first cousin, Jane (daughter of Robert and Jane Meriwether Lewis of "Belvoir," and the widow of Thomas Meriwether by whom she also had issue.)
