MERRIMACK, N.H. - Jane S. (Bemis) Wagner, 71, of Merrimack, died Monday, March 15, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was born Feb. 24, 1939, in Glens Falls, N.Y., and was the daughter of the late Seward and Florence (Hibbard) Bemis. Jane was raised and educated in Glens Falls, and was a 1957 graduate of Glens Falls Senior High School. She had been a resident of Merrimack for more than 40 years.

Mrs. Wagner was a mother of five, and homemaker; she also worked in the Merrimack school lunch program for several years. Jane was a volunteer with the Merrimack youth association, where she was a softball coach for the "Bombers."

Mrs. Wagner was predeceased by three sisters.

Members of the family include her beloved husband of 49 years, John W. Wagner of Merrimack; son, John Jr. and his wife, Jeannie, of Merrimack; daughter, Kelley Wagner-Bitton and husband, Bobby Bitton, of Mahwah, N.J., son, Jeffrey S. Wagner of Merrimack, daughter, Lisa LaBombard and husband, Chuck of South Burlington, Vt., and daughter, Heather Wagner of Concord, N.H., five grandchildren: Sarah and Samantha Wagner, Danielle and Carter Gaglia and Rachel LaBombard, a sister, Joan Sears and husband, Peter, of Sun City Center, Fla. As well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the George R. Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack, N.H. and a funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. James United Methodist Church of Merrimack, and burial will conclude at Last Rest Cemetery of Merrimack.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Animal Rescue League of NH 545 Route 101 Bedford, NH 03110.
