About Jesse Bounds
Family letters state John Bounds married a German woman (Margaret Wolf) and he was half Cherokee. They also state either himself or his son James Ganser was a tailor and shoemaker. The author of the letter seems to have combined the two persons and is writing from memories of their grandparents. Jesse Bounds was the father of John Bounds. Jesse is recorded as having married Cassandra Gardner. No further information exists for Cassandra, at present. It's fair to conclude Cassandra was herself Cherokee or the mother of John Bounds was a Cherokee woman, which seems more in keeping with DNA findings. Also, Margaret Wolfe's parents were both German and this is confirmed through DNA.
