Joan May Sigmund

Joan May Sigmund, 82, of Elizabethtown, PA passed away on Monday, October 7, 2013 at her home. She was the wife of the late Frederick L. Sigmund who died in 1988.

Born in Royalton, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Merle Sipe Snavely. Joan enjoyed her cats and spending time with her family. Prior to becoming a homemaker and raising her family, Joan had worked at the Middletown Press and Journal. She was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Korean War and a graduate of the Middletown High School.

Surviving are four children, Michelle K. Gosnell (James) of Harrisburg, Kirk A. Sigmund (April) of Hummelstown, Beth A. Hawthorne (Douglas) of Bainbridge and Shannon L. Dixon (Jeffrey) of Carlisle; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Glenn Snavely.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Joan's Life Celebration at 10:30AM on Thursday at Coble-Reber Funeral Home, 208 N. Union St., Middletown, PA. Interment with military honors will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:30AM until time of service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army 440 West Nyack Rd, West Nyack, NY 10994 or to the Humane Society of Harrisburg, 7790 Grayson Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17111.
