She was named in her father's will dated 4 Jan. 1549/50 as Johanne Cheyney. She married a second time, in 1568, to John Hanford (bur. 7 Feb. 1610/1, Waltham Abbey, Essex).

Biography Joan Harrison was born about 1525 in Waltham Abbey, Essex, England. She was the daughter of John Harrison and Agnes unknown.[1]

Joan Harrison, daughter of John and Agnes Harrison, married on 4 January 1549 Robert Cheney at Waltham, Essex, England.[2] Joan and Robert Cheney had the following known children: [3]

John Cheney, b. 1550; d. Feb 1594/5 William Cheney, b. 1556 Agnes Cheney, b. 1560 Robert Cheney Ralph, b. 1551 Robert Cheney died 31 December 1567. On 3 June 1568 widow Joan Harrison Cheney married 2nd John Hanford, in Waltham Abbey, Essex, England. Joan Harrison was buried on 14 May 1597 in Waltham Abbey, Essex, England.[4]

Joan was the daughter of John and Agnes Harrison of Waltham Abbey, Essex. She married Robert Cheney by 4 Jan 1549/50, as she was "Johanne Cheyney" in her father's will of that date. They had five known children: John, Ralph, William, Agnes (m. 1580, William "Hethe"), and Robert.

Following her husband's death in 1567, Joan married John Handford (spelling re: his 1597 remarriage and 1610 burial, Waltham Abbey parish church records). Besides Handford and Hanforth, the surname is also spelled Hanford.
