I John Adams being of sound minde and memory blessed be to God for his mercys (sic)...Imprimis; I give unto the heirs of sone (sic) Thomas Adams, six shillings each...[to] my beloved wife, Sarah...all the lands which I holde (sic)...[to] my son, William Adams, shall have all the lands adjoining Mark Anthony [up to] the line of the land I made my son, James a Wright (sic)...my will is that all my personal estate shall be sold and the money arising from such sales shall be equally divided amongst my children, herein after named to wit:

James was baptised 22 January 1711[1] in Honington, Warwickshire. He was the son of Henry and Mary Adams.

James Adams, the progenitor of the Adams of The Fork, Richland County, South Carolina, came as an emigrant from England to Virginia prior to 1746. He married Agnes Walker, daughter of Henry Walker, and they had two sons. After the death of James Adams, Agnes married a Culpepper and is said to have had two daughters by this marriage .
