The Circuit Court of Albemarle County, Virginia shows John Bybee owned 1500 acres of land on both sides of Ballengers Creek. Now close to this location is Bybee, Virginia a small village. It appears John was a slave owner as recorded March 03, 1758 where John mortgages 900 acres 6 slaves, 20 head of cattle, 4 feather beds and furniture to George Robinson.

He was probably buried on his family farm in Fluvanna County.
