John Conyers, Planter of Virginia, born at St, Sculpture, London, England, planter, age 33. He was a planter in Virginia and trading in tobacco and came home as a passenger on The Golden Phoenix, which, when she left James River was victualled for two months. With a good wind she might have arrived in London in 5 weeks, and the deponent had made the voyage previously in that time, but she met so many storms that the company were in fear for their lives and tobacco had to be cast overboard to lighten the ship. The deponent shipped 20 hogsheads of tobacco on his own account, 7 of which he consigned to Thomas Fife, who lives near Cripplegate, 5 to a Mr. Browne on Warwick Lane in London, while the rest remain in the custody of the deponent.
