Jonathan Wheatley, Aged 86, Passes
Jonathan Wheatley, Sr., passed away Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Thurston, in Brant township after an illness of four weeks. Mr. Wheatley was born January 29, 1842, in Easington, Durham county, England, and was married there to Isabel Storey April 8, 1866. They came to America several years later and lived in Jackson before coming to St. Charles. Mrs. Wheatley passed away in the village in February, 1923. Thirteen children were born to this union, eight of whom survive. They are Mrs. Rbt. Duncan, Mrs. Clell Stephens and Thomas Wheatley of Flint; Mrs. Louis Cramton, Jonathan and John Wheatley of Fremont; Mrs. John Thurston of Brant and George Wheatley of St. Charles.
Funeral services were conducted from the Thurston home in Brant yesterday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. S.S. Cross officiating. Burial was in St. Charles.
