Margaret Hugarty Gorman

Margaret Hugarty Gorman was born from 1820 to 1830, in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland, United Kingdom. She married Thomas Ramage on 17 April 1849, in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland, United Kingdom. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 5 daughters. She died on 8 June 1894, in New Zealand, at the age of 74, and was buried in Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand.

In 1861 Margaret started working as a char lady to which she continued to work in this employment throughout her working years as well as bringing up their children and their grand daughter Isabella‘s daughter Helen Thompson Walker Ramage ,she had before she married James Kinnaird.

In 1864 Thomas and Margaret lost 2 of their children within weeks of each other to Scarlet Fever Robert was born 29 Apr 1859 Bickram Village Saline Scotland and died 28 Mar 1864 5 years old in Dunedin and another daughter named Anne {as the first Anne born 1857died aged 7} this Anne was born 1862 in North East Valley and died 13 April 1864 aged 2 and a half years old in Waverly Dunedin she is buried with her brother in the Southern Cemetery Dunedin . In 1865 Margaret had a stillborn baby.

Margaret died of a Stroke in 12 Jun 1894 aged 64 in the Benevolent home in Caversham Alexandra street South Dunedin . She is in paupers graves in the Southern Cemetery and this is where details were not required and recorded then to the same degree as to what is now required today unfortunately
