Margaret Radcliffe

Margaret was born about 1509. She is the daughter of Edmund Trafford and Elizabeth Longford.

Sir William RADCLIFFE of Ordsall was born the first son of Sir Alexander Radclyffe, Knt,. and his wife, Alys (Alice) Bowthe, daughter of Sir John Bowthe of Barton, Knt. William married Margaret Trafford, daughter of Sir Edmund Trafford of county Lancaster. They had issue:

1. Alexander RADCLIFFE (Sir), m. Frauncesse Wynbyche, dau of James Wynbyche of Nocton, county Lincoln (Lancashire)
2. John RADCLIFFE of Ordsall (Sir)
3. Richard RADCLIFFE of Newcroft (Sir)
4. Helene (Ellen) RADCLIFFE, m. Edward Standishe of Standishe, Lancashire
5. Alice RADCLIFFE, m. Francys Tunstall of Thursland castle, Lancashire

Interestingly enough, Sir William's sister, Anne, married Margaret's oldest brother, Sir Edmond Trafford, Knt., whose family also married into the Bowthe (Booths) of Barton.

Sir William later married Anne Catterall Towneley, daughter of Ralph Catteral, and widow of Sir John Towneley of Towneley, and eventually married Catherine Bellingham Assheton, daughter of Sir Robert Bellingham of Burneside and widow Sir Richard Assheton of Middleton.
