Mary Jane Barron

Mary was born in Stokesley, North Riding of Yorkshire, in 1860 to Weldon Robinson and Ellen Mohun. She is listed as the daughter, Jane, age 0, of Weldon and "Elen," on the UK 1861 census, when her father, a miner and beer keeper, was age 30 and her mother, who worked alongside her husband, was age 26. Mary's father died in 1867 and her mother was left to run the tavern. Mary took on work as a domestic servant, living in the household of an Irish rag merchant who operated a boarding house and his English wife, in Marske, Yorkshire. Her younger brother, John, then age 15, also lived in the boarding house.
At age 22, Mary married Lancelot Barron, a painter from Stockton-On-Tees in Durham, in Stokesley late in 1882. She is found on the 1891 census, living with her husband in Stockton-on-Tees, where he worked as a painter. Her occupation is listed as a housewife. Her brother, John Robinson, also lived with the couple and is said to have also worked as a painter.She appears again on the 1911 census in the household with her husband; her brother is no longer in the household. No living children were found on either census.
Mary Jane Barron died in Stokesley in 1933, predeceased by five years by her husband.
