About Mary Belle Carroll
Mary Belle Black is the daughter of William Morley Black and Sarah Marinda Thompson. In 1890 her mother sold their home and bought a team and wagon to go to Mexico to join her father (who had gone to Mexico because he had more than one wife). In 1894 Mary Belle married James Franklin Carroll. They fled Mexico in 1912 because of a revolution and settled in Blanding Utah for a number of years before moving to Salt Lake City.
