MARY DALRYMPLE (1811-95)

Mary Dalrymple is the daughter of Alexander Dalrymple of Woodhead, and his wife, Agnes Reid. She was born on 16 September 1811 and her baptism was registered at Kirkintilloch in Dunbartonshire, Scotland, on 25 October 1811 [Kirkintilloch Baptisms]

Death

Mary Dalrymple, Mrs. Thomas Duncan, died at 54 Grant Street, in the Woodlands district of Glasgow, on 11 June 1895, and was buried in the Auld Aisle Cemetery in Kirkintilloch, Dunbartonshire [Memorial Inscription in Jesmond Old Cemetery, Newcastle upon Tyne]

Marriage

Mary Dalrymple married the Reverend Thomas Duncan, minister of the Gospel at the Free Church in Lockerby in Dumfriesshire, Scotland. The request for proclamation was booked at Dryfesdale on 16 March 1845 and they were married at Kirkintilloch, probably at Woodhead, on 2 April 1845. They were married by the Reverend Mr. Foreman of Leven, Wigtonshire Free Press

He was distinguished for great power and earnestness in his pulpit ministration, and as a faithful and devoted pastor possessed in a high degree the esteem and affection of his congregation by whom this monument has been erected.
