About Mary Mercy Wheeler
http://www.conovergenealogy.com/famous-p/p8776.htm#i438771
Massey Borden's grandfather Benjamin Borden was an original settler of the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. An enormous grant of land was awarded him by King George II on Nov. 6, 1739. It contained 92,100 acres in what later became Rockbridge County. His ancestors came fro Headcorn, County Kent, England. The litigation over the estate continued for over 100 years. John and Massey's oldest son had moved on to Arkansas and on to the Republic of Texas during this time and did not participate in the settlement.
In searching for confirmation of Massey & John's marriage date and Massey's death date, I found a Virginia marriage record of a John Wheeler to a Sanders woman dated April 2, 1818, the very date that many researchers have listed as Massey's death date. Furthermore, 1818 puts her death after his marriage to Margaret Roddy and birth of some of their children which made the death date suspect.
