Died as the result of a chemical explosion while making firecrackers with a friend, Bill Kelly, who had brought the chemicals home from college. Bill handed him a concoction that exploded, severing Mike's jugular vein and mangled his hand. He died a few hours later in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Haddon Township, NJ.
