Gerstl The stately stone on the grave in the jewish cemetery in Nitra belonged to the Gerstl and Ehrenfeld family, the noblest jewish families in Nitra. As Moriz Gerstl, the founder of the branch herein described in this extensive family, in Neutra was buried, Peter Lloyd wrote on 21 February 1894: In Neutra at age 20, Moriz Gerstl was the president of the local Jewish community, he was one of the most prestigious Burgers in town, a large participation of the population turned out for his funeral. The funeral ceremony completed by Rabbi Dr. Kayserling Lazarus, chief cantor of Budapest. Speaking for the Jewish Community, Dr. Henry Pereszlenyi at the bier of the deceased. The deceased was the deputy for a time at the Israelite Kongreft and later the District president; he was a member of the municipal committee and the Stadtrepriisentanz, President of the executive council of the Neutrauer Kredit Bank. He worked in all its properties with gleaming success and that he enjoyed until the end of his life. He gained the respect of his Mitburger. Gerstl reached the age of 72.

Die Trauerzeremonie vollzogen Rabbiner Dr. Kayserling und Oberkantor Lazarus aus Budapest. Im Namen der Kultusgemeinde sprach Dr. Heinrich Pereszlenyi an der Bahre des Verstorbenen. Der Verblichene war seinerzeit Abgeordneter fur den israelitischen Kongreft, spater Distriktsprasident; er war Mitglied des Munizipal-Ausschusses und der Stadtreprasentanz, Prasident des Direktionsrathes der Neutrauer Kreditbank. In allen seinen Eigenschaften wirkte er mit glanzendem Erfolge und erfreute sich bis an sein Lebensende der ungetheilten Hochachtung seiner Mitburger. Gerstl hat ein Alter von 72 Jahren erreicht. Die Familienverhaltnisse Moriz Gerstls sind nicht ungetrubt, seine erste Frau, Sophie oder Sali Ehrenfeld starb jung, auch seine zweite Frau uberlebte er urn drei Jahre. Er uberlebte seine beiden Sohne aus erster Ehe: Der Jurist Dr. Alexander Gerstl starb 1873 unverheiratet, der zweite Sohn Adolf Gerstl ging nach Wien, begrundete hier unter der Firma Moritz Gerstl's Sohn ein Bankgeschaft und starb unter Hinterlassung zweier Tochter,
