About N.N. de Brionne, Niece of Gilbert de Brionne (not daughter)
From http://www.brucehassan.id.au/Baskerville.html
Wigerius Teutonicus, b. c952 Normandy, m. c976 iss: Balderic the Teuton or the German, b. c977, first Lord of Bacqueville-en-Caux, Archearius, m. Denefacta, dau. of Richard, Lord of Clare, grandson of Richard, 1st Duke of Normandy
Note by George J. Homs (16/8/2013): The wife of Balderic Teutonicus is said (according to Orderic Vitalis) to be a niece of Gilbert de Brionne. However, she is also said to be the daughter of Gilbert's son Richard de Brionne by his wife Rohèse Giffard. Because of these contradictions, some critics believe that Orderic Vitalis made a mistake and should have said that Balderic's wife was the granddaughter of Gilbert de Brionne (and not his niece). However, this doesn't work at all from a chronological view. The Foundation of Medieval Genealogy seems to leave the possibility open that Orderic Vitalis was right, and that Gilbert de Brionne had a brother, who was the father of Balderic's wife. This makes more sense. I would not go with what is mentioned on the above-mentioned web page of 'brucehassan' (OPEN FOR DISCUSSION).
