Cornelia Vandenbergh Quackenbush by Stefan Bielinski

Cornelia Vandenbergh was born about 1650. She was the daughter of New Netherland pioneers Gysbert Cornelise and Elizabeth Segars. During the last half of the seventeenth century, her father's family adopted the surname Vandenbergh.

About 1671, she married European-born Wouter Pieterse Quackenbush. By 1691, the marriage had produced seven children. At least some of them were baptized in the Albany Dutch church where "Neeltie" was a member and regular baptism sponsor.

Their home was located in a part of Rensselaerswyck north of the Albany stockade and along the Hudson River.

Neeltie lost her husband before 1720. Surviving well into her eighties, Cornelia Vandenbergh Quackenbush died in November 1736.
