1865 census for Hellerud, Strom, Søndre Odalen shows Ole aged 49 living with his wife Anne Sorensdatter aged 45, son Erik aged 16, son Soren aged 14, son Amund aged 11, Son Ole aged 8, daughter Anna aged 6 and son Nils aged 1. At that time his occupation was shown as a farmer with soil.

Ole (“Old Ole”) ERIKSEN GLOMSÅSHELLERUD (ERICKSEN) One of first settlers at Norsewood, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. Known as Old Ole ERICKSEN in New Zealand. Ole and his wife had nine children; one, a boy named Nils, died at birth in Norway. Ole and his wife came to New Zealand with six of their children. Their daughter, Andrea, came to New Zealand with them on the 1872 "Høvding" with her husband and two children. Their daughter, Rangdi, stayed in Norway until 1875 when she emigrated to New Zealand where she settled in Norsewood with her husband, Knud ANDERSEN, and their children. Their son, Erik, came to New Zealand in 1880, and joined his family at Norsewood.

New Zealand records show that Ole ERICKSEN was senile at the time of his death. NZ BDM death certificate number 1899/170.
