The following by GPH ..... Ole Martin Jevning was born in the far north of Norway in the year 1845. In 1866, at the age of 21 years, he sailed to America with his brother Nils and settled in Minnesota where he worked as a carpenter.

It was here that he became acquainted with the Estenson family. Ole Estenson had a daughter Ingeborg that was born in the north of Norway in the year 1852. When Ole Jevning arrived in Minnesota, Ingeborg was 14 years old. The Estenson family decided to move north and west to the Red River Valley in 1871. They were determined to find a good piece of land on which to homestead. Ole Jevning decided to accompany the Estensons on the journey. The trip was made with oxen pulling the prairie schooner and the men driving the cattle behind.

They woke one morning to hear a steamboat whistle in the distance. The boat belonged to the Hudson Bay Company which was passing at Frog Point on it's way down to Grand Forks. The group called a halt and took up homestead lands nearby. It was June of 1871.

Ole jevning took up a parcel of land and in february of 1872 he married Ingeborg after a trip north to Pembina where General Harrison performed the ceremony.
