The self-proclaimed troublemaker was born in Dallas to Irish-American parents originally from Massachusetts.Hiss mother, Laura (Cunningham), is a photographer; his father, Robert Andrew Wilson, an ad exec; and his brothers, Andrew Wilson (the eldest) and Luke Wilson (the youngest) are also actors.

Wilson is a member of the comedic acting brotherhood colloquially known as the Frat Pack. His films have grossed more than $2.25 billion domestically (United States and Canada), with an average of $75 million per film.
