Percival Levett IPercival I married Elizabeth Rotherforth or Rotherford about 1580. In 1581 he operated an inn in Yorkshire and in 1587 and 1597 he was the Sheriff of York. He died in 1626 and was buried at Michlegate, Yorkshire, England, leaving seven children: Mary, Rotherforth, Grace, Christopher, Percival II, born about 1580/1588, Mercy and Anne, of whom Christopher achieved fame as an explorer of the New England coast. In 1623, Captain Christo pher Levett sailed to New England and explored the coast of Maine. In 1630, he went again to New England, and the following year, died at sea.
