About Prudence Holyoke

Rev. John Stockton, father of Prudence, was Parson at Alcestor, Warwickshire, from 20 Dec 1578 to 1595, when he was appointed to Rector at Kimcote and Walton, Leicester. So Prudence was born in Alcestor, and married in Kimcote. [1]

She was married to Edward Holyoke at Kimcote, Leicestershire, on 17 June 1612. Record of this marriage was found and reported in 1981.[2]

Prudence Holyoke died before 1648, when Edward Holyoke married Anne, the widow of Richard Tuttle

His will made Dec. 25, 1658, gives "to my son Tuttle that (english pound)4 that should have been paid yearly to me, but of which I have never received a penny, for the house in Boston, my best doublett and breeches to son Tuttle." - Lewis' Annals of Lynn.   • The father of Edward H. of Lynn was Edward, and is thought to be the same Edward Hollyocke mentioned in the will of Shakspeare's wife (Anne Hathaway) father, where he is spoken of as having a claim of 20s. for wood - N. E. Gen. Reg.
