About Celia A Polivnick
Born
- April 10, 1890 (per father's naturalization papers which she signed)
- April 22, 1892
Name
- went by Pooney in the family. Seemingly this would be short for Penina, but this is not her Hebrew name as listed on headstone. If not Penina, could it be cutesy name for "punim" (face), like "sheina punim" (cute face)?
- Tziporah on headstone. Cipe is the the German orthography of this name as given on immigration papers.
- Celia is English correlation in first letter to Cipe.
Immigrated to US in 1909 through Ellis Island from Berdichev, Ukraine. From New York, she was going to see her father (and mother's father) in Boston. Unlike the rest of her family who went through Boston, she immigrated through Ellis Island.
Resided
- Bilopillya, Kozyatyns'kyi district, Vinnyts'ka, Ukraine (per mother's naturalization papers)
- 99 Gordon St. Allston, MA (Jan 13, 1938 per father's naturalization papers and mother's death certificate in 1943)
