Rachel Reif (Winter)

Rachel Winter's father was Emanuel Winter (see her birth and marriage records, below). Evidence has not yet been found that Emanuel was also the father of Juda M. Winter, nor therefore that Rachel & Juda M. were siblings.

Birth record (February 12, 1789; Haus No. 4 Ostroh) is in Czech Jewish Registers, UHERSKÝ OSTROH O [Marriages] 1784-1830 which also includes N (Births) and Z (Deaths), image #25/113 (the births come after the marriages in the register book). Father is Emanuel Winter, mother's name looks like Barbra. Someone wrote over Rachel's birth name, Winter, with her married name, "Reifova."

Marriage record (June 2, 1813) is in Czech Jewish Registers, www.badatelna.eu/fond/241, UHERSKÝ OSTROH O [Marriages] 1784-1830 (i), image #12 of 113. Witnesses were Emanuel Winter and Bernard Tauss.

A death record for Rachel Reifova (May 10, 1822) is in Czech Jewish Registers, www.badatelna.eu/fond/241, UHERSKÝ OSTROH O [Marriages] 1784-1830 (i), which also includes N (Births) and Z (Deaths), image #99 of 113.

Emanuel Winter's name also appears in a 1797 Uhersky Ostroh marriage record for Abraham Winter, age 19, of Haus No. 7 (b. 1778); Image #8/113 Uh.O. Marriages. Abraham married Juditta Fuxel, 18, dau. Sallomon Fuxel.

Emanuel Winter was Familiant No. 8 in Ostroh from about 1796 (when he was 39). He died Dec. 2, 1831 in Ostroh; birthdate given as 1757. Haus No., 4; Image #6/ in Uhersky Ostroh Deaths 1830-1846.
