Rai Sahib Dr Dewan Chand Dwivedi

Rai Sahib Dr Dewan Chand was the best graduate of the year 1911 at King Edwards Medical College, Lahore. He was also the best sportsman of the medical school. He was part of the soccer team that were the Punjab champions. He was a very fine doctor and retired as a civil surgeon. For most of his working life he was located in Burma. He was awarded the title of Rai Sahib by the viceroy of India, in Shimla. He was also recognised for his services in the Burma Campaign (Dec 1941 - May 1942) by the Order of His Excellency, Governor of Burma. After retiring, he did volunteer work in his native village and at Radha Swami Beas. He is remembered as a great legend of the Dwivedi family. He passed away in October, 1971.
