George Eskridge was born on 30 September 1655 in Lancashire, England, the older of two known children and the only son of George Eskridge and Elizabeth Unknown.

In 1688, when he was in his earlier thirties, he married Rebecca Bonum. She bore him nine known children, five sons and four daughters:
