Was a radioman first class when he was mustered out because of the malaria he contracted in the Panama Canal Zone. Was 32nd degree Mason, and belonged to the Elks club.
Married Grayce Clark and adopted Joan Frances with her.
Picked ferns for a living, then purchased 10 acres of farmland and raised chickens, strawberries, raspberries, beef cattle, squash, and had a large dahlia garden.
Was a speed reader before that was "in" and spent a lot of time reading the encyclopedia and history books. Could tell a whale of a story. was a really great dad.
